Some critiques have included images from both campaigns in a way that suggests they are one and the same. The furore over its adverts comes at a significant moment for Balenciaga’s owners, Kering, who also own Gucci. The spring campaign features an upcoming Balenciaga collaboration with Adidas — interestingly, both brands have recently had to cut ties with brand partner Kanye West over an entirely different set of controversies. The campaign featured a Balenciaga x Adidas bag in an office environment, sitting atop a pile of papers, folders, a laptop and legal documents. After this, some right-wing US media channels ran with the story, and accused the fashion house of "endorsing child pornography". Fashion scholar Susan B. From this theoretical lens, change in fashion is part of the larger industrial system and is structured by the powerful actors in this system to be a deliberate change in style, promoted through the channels influenced by the industry .
